Port Colborne Field Target Club    October 1, 2005

This was certainly a made to order field target day; the temperature was around seventy, winds were light, humidity was low and the sun shone all day.  The six of us that attended certainly had a great time on a fairly challenging course.Oct 1-05 011

With seven targets placed at fourty to fifty-four yards, it made for some interesting shooting and the Troyer difficulty worked out to be just over thirty-two.  With the dense vegetation, wind was only a factor on the very long targets and the challenge was to keep the cross-hairs inside the kill zones that often seemed too small.

Don kept a steady hand all day and all but one of his dropped shots came on very long targets.  Dennis and I went back and forth all day and when it was over I was up by one to take second and Dennis placed third.  Magdy had a strong day, scoring a fourty-seven and Danny did well with his spring gun on a tough course.  Rob Cohoe, shooting with us for the first time, had a great day and posted a thirty-one.  I was very impressed with this score on a first outing and considering the match difficulty.  I hope Rob will become a regular at the Port Colborne matches.

This raps up our short first season at the Port Colborne Conservation Club.  Dennis and I wanted to see if the facility was conducive to field target and if we could draw enough shooters.  The facility turned out to be top notch and the turn-out for the matches was encouraging.  We may expand the schedule next season and will work with the Waterloo Club to be sure to avoid conflicts.

Thanks to everyone who attended the matches and of course, thanks to the Port Colborne Conservation Club for allowing us to use their excellent facilities.  We look forward to bigger and better things next year.
